Senior Photography Overland Park KS photographers can help you capture you and your best friends. There’s something extra special about senior sessions that go beyond the traditional solo portraits—and this recent best friend session in downtown Kansas City was the perfect reminder of why.
These three girls showed up ready to celebrate not just their senior year, but their friendship as well. We started the session in a classic style with their white graduation dresses. There’s a timeless, almost cinematic feel to this look—soft, bright, and full of anticipation for everything ahead. Walking through the heart of downtown, the light reflected beautifully off the colorful walls, giving us that clean, glowing backdrop that makes these moments feel even more meaningful.

After capturing those elegant, individual and group portraits, we added their graduation caps and gowns. This part of the session always brings a shift in energy—suddenly it feels real. The laughter gets a little louder, the hugs linger a little longer, and you can see just how proud they are of each other. These images tell the story of everything they’ve accomplished side by side over the years.
We had these girls walking across downtown streets of all different angles. They just wanted the cityscape as their backdrop. It’s almost as if no one else was around. They were so comfortable and in their own little world, it was truly a site to capture.

To wrap things up, we headed to a nearby parking garage and they switched into their college & military tees and jeans with some fun colorful heels! This is where we shifted to a more carefree vibe. Lots of movement, inside jokes, kicking their heels off—it felt like a celebration of their friendship. Each shirt represented a different path, a different future, but seeing them all together in that space was a powerful reminder that while they may be heading in different directions, their bond isn’t going anywhere. This is where we showcased their friendship.

Best friend senior sessions like this are about so much more than just photos. They freeze a moment in time right before their lives change in a big way. Before new cities, new schools, and their new routines. Before everything they know shifts completely.

One of the biggest benefits of doing a session like this is capturing your connection. These are the people who shaped their high school years—the ones who were there for early mornings, late-night study sessions, football games, and everything in between. Having professional images together gives them something lasting to hold onto.
It also creates a shared experience. Instead of just individual senior photos, this becomes a memory they all participated in together—something they’ll talk about years from now. It turns what could be a simple photo session into a meaningful milestone. And honestly, it takes the pressure off. When you’re with your best friends, you’re more relaxed, more yourself, and that always shines through in the photos. The result is genuine, joyful images that feel true to who they are right now. As they get ready to head off to their next chapters, these photos will serve as a reminder of where it all began—and who was there with them every step of the way.
If you’re a senior (or a parent of one), consider making your session about more than just individual portraits. Bring your people, celebrate your friendships, and document this season in a way that feels real. Because this moment deserves to be remembered.
