Hi, I’m Lindsey with His & Her View Photography, a Lawrence Maternity Photographer. This past spring break my family and I visited Rocky Mountain National Park, one of our favorite places in Colorado. Photographing in the mountains has been on my bucket list for years and we couldn’t pass down the opportunity when it presented itself.

Because this maternity session took place in March over spring break it’s important to know that spring in the Colorado mountains looks much different than it does back home. Consequently, we had wind gusts that reached 45mph that day and can I just say, with the temperature peaking at 29 degrees, this was our coldest session yet. In fact, we even started the session with a mini snow blizzard. Can I say all things considered, it was completely worth it.

Would it be ok if we just paused and took a moment to focus on this gorgeous momma? My dear friend, Sadie, was absolutely glowing with joy and anticipation of her sweet little girl. Her beauty paired with this backdrop is absolutely breathtaking. The snow-capped peaks towering in the distance beneath a storm filled sky made this location so full of beauty. I couldn’t look away for one second, for fear of missing a moment.

As a result to the cold temperatures, we had to pull out all the tricks for this little guy. Dad playfully tossed him around, put him on his shoulders and even pulled out his wooden airplane. Thankfully, I planned ahead knowing this would become an issue. On our way to the session, we stopped and picked up some donuts as a last resort. You just wait and see what he thought of those!

At this point, we knew we had to give the little guy a break. He and Fabio went to hang out in their truck, blast the heat and watch some cartoons. I escaped with mom and dad and captured just the two of them. I sat back and watched them embrace one another, as if no one else were there.

As a reward for enduring the cold temperatures, it was time for the donuts. Mom did a quick wardrobe change to switch up the vibe to a more casual look. I’m serious, every session with kids needs to end with a sweet treat. His little face lit up and it made for some the most precious moments. Furthermore, we were thankful to have a little more time to capture their growing family.

In conclusion, yes we will definitely travel for your next photography session and yes, we will be bringing donuts to more sessions. As a Lawrence Maternity Photographer, we are not limited to just the Kansas City area. Traveling sessions fuel our passion for photography.
