As Portrait Photography Kansas City photographers we absolutely love family photography. Family portraits are timeless and last for generations. In today’s digital age, where most photos are captured on phones and shared instantly, the art of professional portrait photography holds a special place in preserving the essence of family.
In this post, we’ll show you how fun indoor personality sessions of your children can be! These unique sessions will freeze your child’s personality in time. We’ll dive into the advantages, tips for creating a successful session, and how to make the experience enjoyable for your children.

One of our biggest advantages of an indoor studio is having complete control over lighting, background, and environment. This ensures that every family member looks their best, with the best lighting and a complimenting backdrop. Unlike outdoor shoots where natural light and weather conditions can be unpredictable, studio sessions offer consistency and reliability. As a result, indoor sessions are perfect for personality sessions because we want as little distractions as possible!

An indoor setting provides a comfortable and familiar atmosphere, therefore there’s no need to worry about weather conditions, gross humidity, or bugs. Families get the luxury of relaxing a bit more in a temperature controlled environment and can focus on enjoying the session, which often leads to more authentic, candid moments. As shown in these personality pictures the background is minimal and there are no distractions. The client is the sole focus.

Studio settings can be customized to our clients. This particular client wanted each of their children in an outfit of their choice, against a white backdrop, and edited in black and white. As mom’s kids continue to grow up, she wanted a personality session with all eight of her kids. A print of each of them, expressing their own personality, filling the walls of their home. A gallery with 10 options were provided for her to choose her favorites from. It’s a great way to hand over control to the client. After all, they know their children best. They know their personality.

In summary, as Portrait Photographers in Kansas City, we have grown to love indoor studio sessions. As I have said, families and children make these sessions an absolute blast. I feel there is less stress, no weather concerns, and just a different vibe that outdoor photography cannot provide. If you have been having photos done every year and need something new to try, book an indoor session. By all means, give it a try!
