Overland Park Family Photographer | Top 6 local locations for Family Sessions

Being an Overland Park Family Photographer, I am always looking for a sweet little creative nook for your family photography session. Whether it’s an outdoor water location that involves the whole family or an urban downtown landscape, I have so many spots that I know you will love!

Near the water

1. First on the list is a location near water, in water or on water. Water is perfect for a warm summer sessions and families that love being together and playing together. Whether it’s at a park beach or your own swimming pool, it’s a great option to change things up!

Ice cream shop

2. Second, a fun little ice cream shop for the kids! Or go simple and just bring some donuts to your session? You can’t go wrong with sweets for the kids. I love ending our family sessions with a sweet treat. It might work as a small bribe, but then it creates for such a fun dynamic for the whole family. In conclusion, kids (and parents) always leave smiling and possibly on a sugar high!

3. Third, a beautiful wildflower field always offers a gorgeous colorful backdrop for your next family session. Kansas provides us with a variety of colors in the spring and summer months. Whether you love purple, white or yellow, there are some fun options. But just be warned, your little girls are going to want to pick every single one of them. 🙂

4. Fourth, our local parks offer so many gorgeous backdrops! Because they’re local, they’re perfect for families that are in a hurry or don’t want to travel very far. These parks still offer, lakes, rolling hills, fields and gorgeous sunsets. In other words, we have some beautiful local locations and honestly, Kansas can offer some of the most gorgeous skies.

Urban Kansas City

5. Fifth option, feeling a little edgy? Try an outdoor Kansas City urban location. There are so many cute little shops and walls in Kansas City to choose from. Spruce these sessions up with fun colors, wild prints and fun accessories. These sessions can be dressed down or dressed up, the options are endless. In addition, you would have to deal with as many bugs!

Indoor Studio

6. Lastly, want to go minimalist, try the studio! A beautiful option for family sessions. Choose a colorful backdrop or just keep it simple – you choose. Another perk of choosing an indoor studio session is we don’t have to worry about wind, rain or bugs! Yup, we’ll remove it all for you. 🙂
